I was fortunate to be able to attend the concert with the CSO last night in downtown Chicago. What a treat it was! The joy and appreciation of this event was evident in the band members. I saw 2 symphony show this fall. All were wonderful shows. The new orchestral arrangements that were added tonight were terriffic. Hearing the full version a Introduction was a special highlight. Safe travels to the band going to L.A. to play the Grammys and then back to the city to play a second show with the CSO on Tuesday. If you haven't seen the band recently, do so if at all possible. I hope there will be more shows with the CSO, This was wonderful.
Check on the Chicago Sun Times article regarding Chicago playing with the CSO!!
It sounds like an absolutely magical show!!
Chicago's September show with the Charlotte Symphony was great. This one should be even better I would think (larger orchestra and more songs with orchestral arrangements according to a recent interview).
I posted earlier that Jimmy, (in a radio interview) commented on the symphony shows and suggested there may be a DVD of this series with the Chicago Symp.
Did anyone notice any video cameramen and cameras at either show? Was Peter Pardini running around filming?
Those were absolutely breathtaking--several of Jimmy in particular had me speechless.
Saw the show on Tuesday. The sound was so powerful with that big of an orchestra. Especially loved the trombones and tuba on the low notes, like on the 2nd half of Searchin'. I enjoyed Jason jamming with the basses and cellos. I noticed Keith didn't sing all night. I would assume he has some throat problems and was told to rest? Overall, one of the highlights of my 36 years following the band.
I also really liked the stage setup with Robert's keyboard out front on his normal side of the stage. Nice touch.
