I've heard buzz that Chicago is going to put out a new album this year. Any thoughts or news about it? What kind of stuff would you like to see on it?

Actually, it would be "XXXV" (35).  The Rhino Handmade release of "Chicago - Live in '75" contains the roman numerals "XXXIV" on the cover.  It was released last year, but before O Christmas Three "XXXIII" - not sure how the chronology works out, but maybe because O Christmas Three was recorded and "in the can" since October 2010.

But, as you said, "Bring it on!" -- regardless of what number it is!

Roman numeral correction ~ for the record, it'll be "XXXIIIV" (Chicago 34).

Couldn't agree more w/ the last comment from Mark Slater about the Phil Ramone approach. Also, it's just great at this point the band has the luxury to put out the music they choose to make and the limited "overhead." Bring it on!

It would be great to hear some "standards" and duets with other singers.  It seems to be very popular these days.

Thanks for the correction, Mr. Sheely. Totally forgot about the limited edition "Live in '75" from Rhino. My bad.

anything but ballads , or rap.......simple stuff like an acoustic or jazz set....byblos part 2....a poem for the people..part two.

something slow and  thought provoking  in a instumental...  a ventures  style cd...

throw all the computer generated stuff in the trash.... ive heard a few  concerts on youtube in small clubs where a person in the crowd has actually got a better sound  and feel recording, than most studio crap..imho

i would like it better if chicago wrote a new album of material  them played it live in concert and recorded the concert and produced a finished product with no editing at all.. you could even not have a audience  just play live, record live and no editing .put it  on a cd and i will buy it...

or put out a headphone style album like the bands used to in the 60s and 70s .. with the music wrapped all around you .and alive with difference stuff....not a flat sounding, boring modern day cd

I am very curious to know as well because in about 90 minutes Steve Lukather (ToTo) has said a major announcement is coming at 12 noon (EST). He stated this via Twitter and FB and the rumors have been there that ToTo would be touring the US over the summer of 2012....hmmmm?

and i dont have the christmas albums either....man if they would of been 3 regular albums...

Well, hopefully this year comes a new album.

This is the first I have heard.  They need a new cd with the latest line-up.  I hope it will be in the same vein as the 16 to 19 years -- when they hit the airwaves with hits.  Don't get me wrong, I love early Chicago too.  But, there was nothing big after Chicago 19.  XXX was ok, but nothing made it onto the radio here in southern Ontario.  I also liked Twenty1.

Well said paul
It is unfashionable to big up The 16 to 19 years
Truth is most of us discovered them then.
I love those 4 albums and loved jasons introduction
Real feelgood albums.21 is better than its reputation
Holdin on is wonderful
So proud to be a Chicago fan
I feel everyone else have just missed out

Please no session players on the new album. I think that they need to write and produce a record of original material with music only played by the current touring band. Those guys have a chemistry together thats undeniable. Do you think xxx would have sold any worse if keith had performed on all the tracks? I for one want an organic Chicago record from the guys I love to watch perform.
