I have made a CD of Live performances in the 2000's. This is a compilation of cuts from the Soundstage 2003, A&E performance, Live at The Greek with EWF, the soundboard downloads etc. I included the A&E performance of 'You're The Inspiration' on the cd. This was always my least favorite 'hit' from XVII - but it obviously did very well commercially. IMO, the current arrangement with a more involved horn chart, more guitar features, less 80's keyboard layering - this is a very fine arrangement and I believe takes the song to a superior level than the way it was originally produced. For me, it now sounds like a Chicago chart and I thoughly enjoy it. Kudos to the band on a wonderful arrangement!

I would love to get a copy of this for my own personal listening pleasure of course.
Denny, I completely agree with you. HAD this song included the horns in the original version, I think it would've gone to #1 (well, it did, on the AC charts, but I meant the Hot 100). The song as it is performed now with the horns and more guitar sounds much better. I have asked previously if this could be availabe as a soundboard recording. As anyone who's seen the 'Live By Request' dvd, we know that this is the most cheered song, even Mark McEwan saying 'oohh it's nice' after the end of that song.

Denny,

I've been trying to find the video of their "Chicago in Chicago" Soundstage performance. I searched all over the Soundstage web site and their name never comes up in a search. Do you have any idea where I can find it?

Thanks!

Steve

Steve, I found it on Amazon. Also, the A&E Live by Request show with Chicago is great as well. The A&E DVD has the current arrangement of 'You're The Inspiration'.
