Since I was listening to "Arise" during the remembrance of the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Gifford, I felt like it could be her theme song. "Liquid Sky" and "Living Proof" are beautiful love songs. Zosia, do you have a solo album out because your voice is amazing.Yes I do, check out www.zosiakarbowiak.com and go to store...

Permalink Reply by Bill Fleck on January 15, 2012 at 10:39am I've had the CD about a week now, and I really like it. "Out Of the Blue" is a gem--an eclectic mix of old and new styles. I find that much of today's hit music is very atonal; this one manages to have a modern feel, but with a melody. I like Trent Gardner's trombone arrangement, too. Killer.
If "Those Crazy Things" had come out of L.A. with a flavor-of-the-month on vocals, I think it would have been a major pop hit. It has a catchy beat, interesting vocal harmonies, and clever lyrics. Good stuff. "Keep the Faith," "4 Bells," "Living Proof," "Arise," and "I Confess" are all very solid tracks, with "Bells" and "Confess" featuring especially good vocal harmonies. "Liquid Sky" is a nice bonus track--a little bit Basia with a cool groove.
Personally, I prefer the bonus track JVE remix of "On the Equinox" to track four on the CD, but that's just me; my preferences certainly aren't the last word.
The production and the mix sound great; the vocals are spot-on; the variety of styles is eclectic. Overall, while I don't think this one is as ambitious as "Subtlety & Passion," I find it to be well worth having. With all that Mr. Lamm's accomplished in his career, I imagine it would be tempting for him to just sit back and let the past speak for itself. I find it very encouraging that he doesn't.
My 2-cents.
Permalink Reply by CarolAnne Lugiano on January 15, 2012 at 6:29pm Finally had the opportunity to listen to the CD this afternoon and I love it!!! I put it right up there with "Subtlety & Passion." All of the songs are so "Robert Lamm." ZoSia has a great voice and she added so much to the CD...lyrics and vocals. Thanks for another terrific piece of work.
OUT OF THE BLUE, Wow! Amazing tune. It's my fave. Great place to start. I have to totally agree w/ Bill Fleck's comments -- all of them -- 100 percent. I sat down & listened to the entire CD a couple of times (w/out interruption). While I can concur w/ the remark that this isn't "as ambitious" as "Subtlety & Passion," that doesn't mean this one isn't worth purchasing. "I Confess" has a very Elton John-sound to it. Zosia's voice is angelic. Mr. Lamm, again, keep pushing CHI to continue making new music. No reason not to at this point. I wouldn't mind to hear a couple of these in "Chicago-form" at some point. Best.

Robert the new work is wonderful. As you said there is nothing left that you need to prove, but we all thank you for continuing to share your experiences, thoughts and musical ideas with us through your songs. We are all very grateful.
Permalink Reply by Alison O'Rear on January 25, 2012 at 8:42pm Zosia, my favorite song on your solo album is "S.I.N.G." which reminds me of two beloved songs from my childhood, the Carpenters' "Sing" and The Jackson Five's "ABC". My kids are also loving "S.I.N.G." and could see the cast of GLEE performing it with you. I love "Loving your Mistakes" which is brilliantly written and a good reminder of what helps make a happy union. All of your songs are heartfelt. Congrats!
