Like a caraway seed in one's gum line, it continues to be an irritant that Chicago once more gets overlooked for this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Unbelievable. (Guys, don't worry! You've already been inducted into the your many fans' hall of fame! After all, that's what really matters.)
You know by now their doing it on purpose I say to everyone don't worry. Hey let me go finish my cover art PLEASE.
Amen! While I agree that powerhouses like YES and Deep Purple deserve to be in, what about Chicago? Their influence can't be denied. Its all become so politically derived :/
CHICAGO does deserve to be in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE IN MY RRHOF AND THAT IS ALL THAT COUNTS TO ME!!!!!! ROCK CHICAGO!!!!!! F%$K THE REAL RRHOF!!!!! Peace Jim
This just like so many items in life that are worthwhile get passed over. I am right there with the rest of you that believe that the guys deserve it. I know of no other band that has been through so much and yet have stuck together all of these years. I thought they needed to be there in 1971 after going to their first concert that i saw in La. This just proves that the system that places musicians is messed up. and all the other bands are not half as talented. Play on guys don't let this be a setback to you. and please come back to central texas
There's no sense or logic to the decision not to induct Chicago into the RRHF. It's either blind prejudice or sheer bloody mindedness on somebody's part that they never get selected. I've given up trying to work out why they're not in it and I can only conclude that they sure must have pi***d somebody off somewhere!
I wish the Grammys would give the band a Lifeti;me Acheivement honor! I mean, who else personifies true artistry, longevity, ultra-popularity on a worldwide level unsurpassed, as well as sheer versatility?! They do jazz, classical, pop, rock, disco, big band Guy Lombardo music, and kickin' Christmas tunes better than any band out there!
THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE WAS SENT BY ME TO ROBERT LAMM A FEW MONTHS AGO. NO RESPONSE.
MY PRIVATE MESSAGE TO ROBERT LAMM ON THE OFFICIAL CHICAGO FORUM. WAITING FOR A RESPONSE:
When Chicago is finally nominated for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, will you, Walt, James and Lee make an effort to make sure that not only will the 7 original members of Chicago be inducted, but also some of the additional members?
I can tell you right now that the Rock Hall will not include guitarists Donnie Dacus, Chris Pinnick or DaWayne Bailey as inductees because they were all short-lived, non-original members of Chicago. Keith Howland and Lou Pardini will not be inducted because they were very, very late arrivals to the band.
Along with the 7 original members of Chicago, these are the additional members of Chicago who can and should be inducted: Laudir De Oliveira, Bill Champlin, Jason Scheff, and Tris Imboden.
Laudir De Oliveira of Sergio Mendes was Chicago's 8th member. He was with the band for 7 years and he performed on 10 Chicago albums, including all 5 of Chicago's number 1 albums.
Bill Champlin was with Chicago for 28 years and 9 studio albums. He played a big part in the Chicago 80s comeback. His lead voice is heard on the radio on the Chicago top 10 hits, Hard Habit To Break, Will You Still Love Me, I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love, You're Not Alone, and the number 1 hit, Look Away.
Jason Scheff will mark his 30th year with Chicago next year. It would look very odd if the guy who replaced Peter Cetera in Chicago is not included as an inductee into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Jason Scheff has been on 8 Chicago studio albums and his voice is still heard on the radio on Chicago's top 10 hits, Will You Still Love Me and What Kind Of Man Would I Be.
If Timothy B. Schmit of Poco and Joe Walsh of The James Gang were inducted with the Eagles, and Sammy Hagar of Montrose was inducted with Van Halen, then Bill Champlin of The Sons of Champlin and Jason Scheff of the Keane Brothers and Keane should be inducted with Chicago. They shouldn't be treated any differently.
Tris Imboden of Honk and Firefall will mark his 25th year as Chicago's drummer next year. He should be inducted as well.
MAKE IT HAPPEN. THANK YOU. PLEASE WRITE BACK AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK AND WHAT YOU WILL DO.

Just this week I read Jimmy Pankow's interview and comments regarding the 'snub' by the RRHOF. I also was blown away by Jimmy's eloquence and intellect (upon reading the whole interview). I DO also think that Wenner and Co. really have devalued the entire process and selection. No kidding, don't they realize that they are sort of laughable and without credibility (especially into the 21st century.). For their so-called judges, it seems to be more and more about the 'pop' aspect, and not about real musicianship. Some of the inductees in recent years had me shaking my head-
Maybe they have not really looked into Chicago's career and internationally acclaimed status/and amazing talent pool-maybe they just dismiss them because they haven't got a real clue or taste for excellence(Hah!)
The irony here is that even IF we were not fans of Chicago, but just music critics analyzing music, this band is WAY more talented and deserving of the status as one of the greatest and long-standing rock bands to grace a stage, change lives, promote peace-and above all, LOVE!
Chicago not nominated again. It's just plain bonkers. Is there something we don't know? There's is no logic or reason. What do the band have to do to get nominated? I love the Smiths (UK band) but for goodness sake they are not a world class band that changed the musical landscape and were trail blazers deserving of this accolade. I give up. I suggest you all do too as it ain't never going to happen!
Who cares about the hall waiting NOW for Chicago XXXVII .
