Robert Lamm has always been my favorite singer of the group, I also loved Jim Pankow and Lee Loughnane out front, I was 17 then and you talk about babes, I still feel that way at almost 58!! In fact I am going to see them @ Stir Cove on June 29th in Council Bluffs, IA. Love Chicago!

And you know what? They noticed me in the audience and were nice enough to wave hello and invite me backstage. This was before the release of album What a run it has been!

My first album followed, Chicago II along with my first crush, Robert Lamm :) Have loved the music and the guys ever since! So grateful that they continue to share their passion, talent and music and so excited to see them this Saturday in CA!!!

Wow, Kenny! You go back even further than I. You are right, it's been quite a run!
Permalink Reply by Peter Heinz on July 11, 2012 at 7:34pm So in September of 1968 - I met my wife in Hamden, CT at a little college called Quinnipiac. I flunked out that Spring of 1969 - but she invited me back for the Spring Festival. It was there in Alumni Hall (the biggest assembly hall on campus) that I first saw Chicago Transit Authority. They were rockin with their first album then!
Now - when they hit Colorado (they do on a yearly basis-yipee) - and they come to those tunes on their setlist - it is the most awesome rockout I know.
I've seen them on Cape Cod, in Atlantic City, in Vegas, at Red Rocks and Fiddler's Green. But I'll never forget that night in Connecticut when I fell for them. Oh - and I'm still married to that great girl from Quinnipiac - my own Girl from Buchannon. Rock out guys - see you 7/17/12 at Red Rocks again!
November 12th, 1976.
Buffalo Memorial Auditorium.
Highlight was the Encore of "Got to get you into My Life" and finishing with "Feeling Stronger Everyday"
I was a High School Sophmore and was there with 2 of my friends who use to make fun of me liking Chicago until they went to the Show and were BLOWN away!
It was right around that week that "If You Leave Me Now" had just finished being Number 1 in the World for 2 straight weeks.
As JP writes in Old Days "Gold Days, Days i'll always treasure"
Seems like yesterday....

Permalink Reply by Humberto A Perez on July 15, 2012 at 1:01pm My first Chicago concert was in the summer of 1972 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. I still remember the thunderous explosion of sound when they started the final encore (Free). Great show.
I first saw Chicago in Edwardsville,Il. in 1970. I'd just gotten out of the Army and they were my 2nd concert I'd ever seen. I saw the Kingston Trio at Southern Ill. University in 1964 so the concert thing was a novelty. Now I'm hooked. The best I've seen Chicago was last night in Concord,Ca, with the Doobie Brorthers. This was my 12th Chicago concert and they are better than I've ever seen them. I've seen them every summer for nine years and they keep getting better every year. How do you guys do it? You knocked me out last night. You are such a tight band and never miss a lick. Keep it going guys. You are the best rock band of all time. The Stones? nah! The Beatles? nah! You and only you.

I have really enjoyed reading about all of your Chicago highlights. There are a lot of great memories wrapped up in Chicagos 45 years of touring. Thank you all so much and keep them coming.
Robin
My first Chicago show was at the Omni in Atlanta, a building that no longer exists. I think it was around 1974-75, something like that. I don't remember a lot about it. I think the visual image I have carried all these years is just seeing Terry Kath and being so intrigued by his talent. In roughly 38 years since then, I've seen the band more times and in more cities and at venues than I can remember. I wish I'd kept a log of all of them, but I don't think I had any idea that nearly four decades later, I'd be an even bigger fan than I was back when I started to follow the band.
