Happy Birthday, Lee-- one of the finest trumpeters, composers, singers and arrangers around!

Like a caraway seed in one's gum line, it continues to be an irritant that Chicago once more gets overlooked for this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Unbelievable. (Guys, don't worry! You've…Continue

Marc Whitt, a HUGE Chicago fan since CTA, serves as Associate Vice President for Public Relations at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, where he earned both of his degrees.
An honorary member of the national music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Omicron Psi Chapter), Marc was involved with having the fraternity honor CHICAGO and fellow Sinfonians Jimmy Pankow, Lee Loughnane and Walt Parazider in 2009 for their successful careers.
In his private time, Marc plays trumpet and occasionally solos with the 65-member Madison Community Band in Richmond, an ensemble he helped form in 2009 and performs at area events. In addition, he serves on the Eastern Kentucky University Center for the Arts Board. In 2010 he received the "Friend of Music" distinction from the Kentucky Music Educators Association.
He and his wife, Jennifer, a clarinetist, are the parents of three children: Emily, a music industry/flute major at Eastern Kentucky University; Elizabeth, a trumpet player with the Madison Central High School Band; and Jacob, a trumpet player with the Madison Middle School Band.
Marc invites members of the Chicago Community to become a Friend on Facebook and to follow him on Twitter @marcwhitt.

Probably no other band has influenced more student musicians, particularly those in middle school through college band, like CHICAGO.
I well remember when I first began playing trumpet in the late 1960s, how much I wanted to emulate Lee Loughnane, Jimmy Pankow and Walter Parazaider and copy the voice and composition style of Robert Lamm.
Today, I often catch my own three children (one a flutist and the other two, trumpet players) listening and enjoying CHICAGO's music just as…Continue

And for those of us who have closely followed the band over the years, it never ceases to amaze me the diversity in age CHICAGO's concerts attract. In my row alone I had a couple in their 70s to an aspiring 13-year old trumpet…Continue
